Where to turn

Support available to you

University counselling

Free, confidential counselling is available to all University of Malta students through the Counselling Unit at Student Advisory Services. Sessions are booked directly and are independent of your faculty.

Peer support

Talking to someone who has been through the same placements, exams and clinical pressures helps. MHSA connects students with senior peers for informal, judgement-free conversations.

Academic pressure

If mental health is affecting your studies, you may be entitled to support or special arrangements. We can help you understand the options and speak to the Faculty on your behalf.

Confidential reporting

Experienced something on placement or on campus that affected your wellbeing? Our complaints form is fully anonymous — no names, no emails, no tracking.

Our work

What MHSA is doing

Wellbeing is part of our advocacy, not an afterthought.

Mental Health Awareness Week

An annual week of talks, workshops and campaigns tackling stigma among students and the wider community.

Wellbeing in clinical placement

Advocacy for realistic placement hours, proper debriefing after difficult cases, and mentorship for first-year students entering clinical settings.

Exam-season check-ins

Peer-led study support, sleep and stress guidance, and quiet-space signposting during the February and June exam sessions.

You are not a burden

Reaching out early is a clinical skill, not a weakness. If you are unsure where to start, message the committee — we will point you to the right service, in confidence.
